it was just before 8pm, and the reason i remember the time so vividly is because we are avid amazing race (among other unnamed reality tv shows) and it was just about to come on when... "i think to myself... hmmm, strangely warm and i run to the bathroom. i haven't lost that much control have i?!?!". sparing you the details - i call out from the bathroom to p. "ummm... p, i ummm... think... ummm... that maybe my water broke". so in our moment of shock, not really panic so much, i ask him to get the doctor's number from the papers on the counter and call the on call doc. and he does and brings me the phone. it's not my doc on call, it's dr. c lee and she proceeds to ask me what made me think my water had broken, asked me to describe and ended with "yes, you should head to the hospital to be checked out, because if you are ruptured, you risk infection". first thing i think to ask is... "can i take a shower?" (knowing that im just not quite ready since it's 2 weeks early). and she says no problem, there's no rush, but to go as soon as we're ready.
ok, so this was more for the drama of it all - but at this point i wasn't in labor and it was all fun and games.
