not quite an adventure, but an entertaining video nonetheless. this was a soothing technique that daddy used for a couple of weeks. but he's already grown up and out of this distraction...

ok, compared to walking and flying... this trick isn't quite as exciting. but, it's certainly a developmental milestone. this was on his two month birthday. cousin mm let us borrow his rattle, and he just loves it. and we're learning that distractions are KEY!!!

more birthdays to celebrate

it was uncle n's birthday this past week and we were invited to dinner at a friend's house to help celebrate the occasion. and chase wanted to do a little something special for his uncle. so, we decided to bake him a cake. here we are stirring together...

after dinner (burgers and dogs)... we sang happy birthday and uncle n blew out his candles.

it was great times with friends and family.

p.s. i also meant to get this post up on the actual day, which was monday, june 22nd. but i've had so many other posts and pictures going lately. so, we need to do a special, belated birthday shout out to cousin s down in southern california. his birthday was on the same day and we've been thinking about him lots this week. sending our love!

my kid is going to have a serious dislike for me posting this once he's all grown up. but when is this ever cute except for when they are babies?! i had to do it, we were shooting such a nice video - AND THEN...

well, just watch and listen for yourself.

p.s. no wonder he didn't want to talk to me, he was working it out. AND i changed his diaper right after we were done with the video.

photo shoots

each morning, we wake up between 6-7am and baby chase and i head downstairs to hang out, have our morning time together and then he usually falls back asleep and i let him nap or take him for a walk. i also use the time to take lots of pictures, as you've seen... but here are a few random ones from the last couple of weeks.

no, i'm not talking about chase. he's not mobile on his own yet (but we have a feeling it won't be long before he starts rolling over)... i'm talking about gpa fongo! he made his way to the race track at laguna seca on june 18th, and had a really great time! he'd been practicing for months now and even gave up the chance to go on the day chase was born - i think gpa will say it was worth it :)!

here he is with his fancy car. i'm not sure if this was before or after his track time, but he sure looks HAPPY!

and while he was out there, he was reminded of his grandson when he saw this porsche...

we're everywhere these days! especially with so many commercials about him... (ok, maybe they're commercials for the bank).

we've been working on this for a while

but i think this past week, he's really started to master his first real skill...

we aren't worried about thumb sucking really. we think it will actually come in very handy as we start sleep training in the next couple of months before i go back to work. hopefully "self soothing" will also help out with car rides, which he's gotten much better about but this would be another helpful trick.

thanks gma m for the cute onsie. we went preppy with the stripes that day and coordinated the outfit with the sockie shoes - in a red color to make the whole thing really POP (of course)!

week 9...

maybe TMI, but i can't help it...

and this post might be more just to remind myself later on about the way he is changing, but baby chase used to be like clockwork - eat, poop; eat, poop, etc. he usually feeds every couple of hours during the day on average, and he is sleeping in 3-4 hour stretches at night. not bad. BUT on monday, june 15th... all of a sudden, he stopped having a BM every time he ate. and it went from 5-6 each day to ONE REALLY BIG "explosive, he's going to need a bath after this" BM. i guess this happens as he gets older, and he's able to hold more in. BUT SHEESH - the warnings from our friends about "up the back" were SERIOUS. and not only do we get up the back, but we get out the side too! so, we might be moving from onsies every day, to the t-shirt and diaper route until we get the hang of keeping it all in.

two months... and counting

our baby is two months old today...

we don't have much planned today, because we've had a very busy week and tomorrow is father's day. but we'll probably go for a long walk, take a few naps, and just hang out.

a few pics from auntie b's b-day...

gpa and gma fongo took us out to sushi for auntie b's birthday this past week. i was pretty excited, because this is only the second time i've had raw fish since giving birth (but he was well worth the wait).

auntie b got to hold baby chase first, it was her birthday afterall. and she showered him with kisses

she shared cake with him (red velvet... auntie b's favorite... and a gift from auntie s dawg)... YUM!

we sang... she blew out her candle, and made another wish for the year to come.


aren't they cute? if you haven't heard... auntie b has asked me to pop a couple of babies out for her too. HA!!! for how, she'll have to keep pretending that she's the mommy instead.

i've been trying to catch some of his expressions. i haven't been able to get a shot of "the bottom lip" - that one is PRICELESS. it breaks your heart and makes you laugh all at once. hopefully i'll catch that moment soon. but in the meantime, these are from june 14th...

CAB's two month doc appt

we visited the doctor this morning for baby chase's two month appointment. there were some wagers going on about how much we thought he would weigh. most of us thought at least 11 pounds. some said they thought he would weigh more. well... the stats are in:

weight - 10lbs and 14ozs (much less than we expected. maybe we need to build up our arm muscles). this puts him in the 32nd percentile - down from 44 at his one month visit. he's gained about a pound and a half since his last visit, but in the first month he gained about three pounds. so, things have slowed down quite a bit.

length - 21.5 inches. and this is just the 5th percentile. he's a shorty for now! we'll be able to see how he's trending and make predictions, but not until he's 2.

head - 14 inches around.

he's doing well... the hard part came towards the end when he had to get four vaccinations. fortunately, they now combine three into one shot, so he only had to get one shot to each thigh. but he still cried out for a bit just after and then settled down a few minutes later. here he is in daddy's arms...


we also had the doctor check out his belly button hernia. they said the same thing as last month... it's something to watch, but nothing for us to do now. we're back at home now and i'm really trying to get him to like the swing :)... we'll see.
