i'm guilty.

of wanting my food NOT to touch... so when i arrived 40 minutes late to dim sum last weekend (because i got lost going to a place that is literally 15 minutes from my house), i arrived to the table to find my plate arranged like so...

and to all you jokesters (sp? is this a word?) out there in the family... watch out for mr. jenkins' return...

so close...

but yet...

he still needs a little help. but just give it a couple more weeks (or less).

i fall in love with them more every day.

it's even more cool when you see them in action...

it's a date.

we're super fortunate that for the next few weeks... chase and kg get to have regular play dates. they are so adorable together, and kg really doesn't mind chase so much - until he realizes his mom has been holding another little person for a while.

but we're not quite sure if we like lying down on our backs...

which then turned into...

kg: what's that guy crying so much for?

cab: hey MOM, get me up from here!!!

kg: maybe if i turn him over, i can get him to stop crying...

and after we turned cab over... he mellowed out. he doesn't mind tummy time, and kg wanted to join right back in!

they are going to have so much fun growing up together :)

it's been a very intense week

thank you to everyone.

for your well wishes.

it has been beyond trying and difficult. it has been real, raw, and emotional.

it has been a roller coaster... and this ride is still going.

but there has been a tremendous outpouring of love and support. and i believe there is a reason and a path laid out.

and despite it all... there is hope.

more weird baby stuff...

it's not as clear in this picture as it is in real life, but it is crazy how white... the whites of his eyes are! i guess - what else would you expect for a three month's old eyes right? he hasn't had years of dust particles blow into his eyes or sat straining at the computer for days on end.

but still weird.

bottle strikin'

yep, it happened. it actually happened about three weeks ago now, and we've been trying every day to get him to take a bottle... four different types of nipples and bottles. BUT, to no avail.

1) a sign this boy has a mind of his own (surprising right?)
2) a sign this boy is stubborn as ever (also, very surprising...)
3) a sign this boy has grown a strong mommy attachment

and that's the thing... i have to go back to work on august 24th. so, as painful as it is for all of us, we're thankful that he won't remember, and we all know that he'll eat when he's hungry enough.

week 14... of our baby's life.

week 14

... 4 weeks left before i return to work.

just a few... just because

workin' it...

had to post these. this one is from a month ago... when he really started finding his thumb with GUSTO! i know, you're thinking... how many postings can she put up about thumb sucking? well, you'd be surprised. because a month ago he started making the smacking sounds you'll hear in the video. they're almost so loud they sound like "effects"!

and then just this week, he decided that - he can't actually decide which hand he prefers. so, it's a competition between the right hand and the left hand...

p.s. no promises that this is the last you'll hear about this...

a grand affair

we were invited to a wedding on sunday, july 19th... and chase was excited for another "first". we celebrated the union of b & l (the son of our backyard neighbors in fremont, who we've know for 26 years!). we got all dressed up for the occasion...

and baby chase found his favorite spot for the ceremony... he was SO good!

it was a movie theme and chase had his very own ticket... and they made sure he had his own place setting and seat for the reception!

it almost looks like "insta-family"!

it was a beautiful setting, a wonderful ceremony and a fun event all around...

more from his three month birthday...

his neck is almost strong enough to go forward facing in the bjorn without a "pillow". i think it'll just be a few more days... and then, he'll be in for lots of adventures :)

chase's grandma m and grandpa c stopped by for a visit, and they took us to lunch at one of our favorite spots these days "buffalo bill's" in downtown hayward.




we had a pretty mellow afternoon. p and chase watched a little bit of wow wow wubzy together.

and we spent the evening just hanging out as a family... just the three of us.

p.s. ... i go back to work... one month from today... :(

hanging out at houston's

we had lunch at houston's with some friends last week, and we all agree that we think this is what baby chase's future holds for him... they're going to look so much alike!

and kg got to show us his skills, all "by self"... uuuuupppp...

and we ended the afternoon, but not without a few huggies first...

we see lots more lunches and playdates in our future :).

thanks ac and uj for the cute outfit for chase. it's absolutely adorable... it was a hot one, so we decided to go sans pants. and, when else will he be able to go without pants in his life ;)?

fenton's... twice in three days

we had such a good time hanging out, spending time with each other, and eating lots of ice cream. thank you for spending the evening with us. we are thinking about you as you're all about to enter into a very exciting life stage, and we can't wait to meet your precious bundle of joy once he arrives.

we look forward to many, many more play dates in the future... including a christmas together, just like old times.

week 13... hard to believe

three months... already?

more conversations...

his sounds, noises and coos are becoming more complex... and mornings are the best. he's very talkative first thing in the morning. i know these might be a bit repetitive, but each video has it's own special qualities (or, at least you get to hear me making a complete fool of myself each time - all in the name of LOVE).

life.

treasure the moments, because we will never get that time back. and have hope for the future, because that is what we have to look forward to.

this was one of those beautiful moments.

the bumbo

another very cool hmd that we get to borrow for chase... the bumbo seat. since his head isn't so wobbly these days, i thought i'd try out this. he's still growing into this gizmo, so when he's a little tired... he rests his little head on the back of the chair. it's so cute!
